ATHERTON, CA
Â
Menlo had a good day at the plate, scoring 9 runs on 16 hits, but ultimately fell to the visiting Urban Knights by a final score of 12-9. Their record is now 4-16.

Powered by Pera
Â
First baseman Sage Pera provided the Oaks with some serious pop today. He went 2-for-4 at the plate, and knocked in 3 RBIs. His highlight of the day came in the bottom of the 6th inning, when he launched a jaw-dropping home run to deep right field. Such was the trajectory of the ball from the moment it left the bat, as well as the booming sound it produced, that most of the Academy of Art players did not even bother to turn around and watch it sail out of the ballpark.
Â
Pera's other RBI came in the bottom of the 1st, when he lined a single to center field that brought Anthony Masetti across the plate. Pera would come around and score later in the inning when right fielder Cooper Paulino hit his own RBI single.
Â
Tough Taylor
Â
Menlo's best performance on the mound came from sophomore reliever Taylor Yuki, who pitched the final 2.0 innings of the game. Across 31 pitches, he struck out 4 batters while allowing just 1 walk and 1 hit.Â
Â
So far this season, in 4 appearances, Yuki has 9 strikeouts to his name. With a total of 7.2 innings pitched, his strikeouts-per-9-innings rate is 10.57, the second-highest of any Menlo pitcher. He has also allowed just 2 walks.
