LINCOLN, CA
Following their win on Friday afternoon, the Oaks lost both ends of a road doubleheader against the Warriors on Saturday. Their records are now 6-20 overall and 2-8 in GSAC play.
Game 1: Jessup 26 - 17 Menlo
Menlo jumped out to an early 4-0 lead, highlighted by a solo home run and an RBI double by the Oaks' star of the season, Sage Pera. Those 2 RBIs were his 25th and 26th of the season, with no other Menlo player cracking 20 so far this year.
The most thrilling moment for the Oaks came in the top of the 8th, when junior catcher Dominic Anderson-Nakagawa launched a grand slam to left field.Â
Menlo's best overall offensive performance came from senior infielder Anthony Masetti, who totaled 3 hits, 4 runs scored, and 6 runs batted in. Masetti homered twice in the game, with a 3-run shot in the top of the 7th and a 2-run dinger in the top of the 9th. He now has the second-most RBIs on the Menlo roster, with 18.
Game 2: Jessup 4 - 3 Menlo
The second game of the day was a much more restrained affair, with the Warriors winning by the slimmest possible margin.Â
Menlo, down 3-0 in the top of the 4th, tied the game with some solid hitting. First, third baseman Sean Pettener doubled to left center, scoring Jonathan Charboneau. Then, designated hitter Jaxon Hotta produced a productive out when his groundout to third base brought Sage Pera across home plate. Finally, catcher Matt Leong sent a single through the left side, scoring Sean Pettener.
Starter Logan Snow put in a solid shift on the mound, throwing 102 total pitches across 6.0 innings. In that time, Snow struck out 6 Warriors, bringing his season total to 36. He also allowed just 2 walks.Â
