LINCOLN, CA
Menlo claimed a GSAC victory over the Warriors on Friday afternoon, out-hitting Jessup 13-7 and out-scoring them 10-7. Their overall record is now 6-18, and 2-6 in conference play.
The Eagle Has Landed
Sage Pera, Menlo's resident astrophysicist, launched 2 more home runs into orbit today. His first came in the top of the 5th, a solo shot to left field that put Menlo up 7-5. Then, in the top of the 8th, he delivered another home run, this time to right field, which also brought Jonathan Charboneau across the plate.
For good measure, Pera also hit a 2-RBI double to center field in the top of the 3rd that scored Anthony Masetti and Blake Dompier. His 5 RBIs on the day took his season total to 24, with his closest teammate, Jonathan Charboneau, having 14. His 7 home runs this season also put him in a tie for the fourth-most by any GSAC player.
Textbook Tellez
Right-handed reliever Anthony Tellez was excellent in his 3.0 innings following starter Brock Moore. Across 41 pitches, Tellez allowed just 2 hits and 1 run, while striking out 4 batters.Â
The sophomore from Fullerton, California has made the most of his opportunities out of the Menlo bullpen this season, throwing 9.2 total innings and striking out 8 batters.
