Game Recap: Men's Volleyball | | By: Drew Barton

Men’s Volleyball Falls In 3 Close Sets Against OUAZ

Atherton, CA- It was a busy day for Menlo athletics with multiple teams seeing game action today. Menlo Men's Volleyball took the court against the visiting OUAZ Spirit in what was a close, hard fought three set game. Unfortunately, the Oaks would fall 3-0 inside Haynes-Prim Pavilion.

Chase Direito Returns
For the last seven matches the Oaks have been without senior Chase Direito due to injury. Direito was an All-GSAC and Second Team NVA/AVCA All-American last season and has been a critical component of coach Hollenbeck's program over the years. Thankfully, Direito returned today and was ready to make an impact. The 6'6 middle blocker posted a team high 10 kills to go alongside with three digs and two block assists. With Direito back in the lineup Menlo will look to make a strong late season push.

Lucas Larson's Well Rounded Game
Setter Lucas Larson may not be a team leader in kills but he constantly finds ways to stuff the statsheet. Against OUAZ Larson's 26 assists were a game across both teams. He also added two service aces, a block assist and three digs. Larson has been a staple of this teams success with his ability to get his teammates great opportunities on offense and doing the little things on defense as well.

Up Next…Aquinas college is now on deck to come to town and face the Oaks. With the return of Direito and the continued strong play of Larson and others, Menlo should look to rebound from this loss quickly. Aquinas is currently receiving votes towards a national ranking meaning this should be another competitive matchup, albeit one that Menlo should be confident heading into.
