Brisbane, California- Menlo Softball kicked off three straight days of competition with a doubleheader against San Francisco's Academy of Art. Unfortunately, the Oaks would drop both games while playing in Brisbane, California.
Game 1: Menlo 1- Academy of Art 9
In their first game of the day four different Oaks were able to record a hit with Sofia Quintero driving Emma Wilson in with a single up the middle. Alongside Quintero, Hailey Roloff, Alyssa Rodne and Maya Bivens-Sommervile all added hits to the Oaks total.
Defensively, the Oaks got off to a slow start but played well in both the fourth and fifth innings. Melo would only allow one hit and catch a runner stealing. Ultimately it wasn't enough to close the gap that the Academy of Art were able to create early in the first inning.
Game 2: Menlo 2- Academy of Art 5
Game two was a closer affair with the Oaks striking first. Alyssa Rodne continued to hit well on the day. Rodne launched a home run over the left field wall to give the Oaks a two run lead at the start of the second inning. Grace Christian would add two hits while Jolena Velasquez and Maya Bivens-Sommervile each hit singles.
The Oaks would also field and pitch well to start the game. Through the first two innings they allowed zero hits, caught a runner stealing and stranded an Academy of Art runner at second. Unfortunately, Academy of Art's bats began to get into rhythm as they defeated the Oaks 5-2 at the conclusion of the second game.
