MEN'S VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS PACIFIC UNION

ATHERTON, CA – #6 Men's Volleyball sweeps Pacific Union College to remain undefeated in their 2023 Preseason run (6-0). Only 9 Oaks were thrown into the mix today and all were underclassmen except Senior vet Edin Ibrahimavic. This decision may be in preparation for the doubleheader tomorrow in Santa Cruz against RV Westcliff and UC Santa Cruz, but nonetheless some New Oaks got some great game experience against a solid opponent!

Stiemer Runs the Show

Freshman out of Leipzig, Germany, Julius Stiemer had control of the entire game. Stiemer led the Oaks with 12 kills for .333% kill percentage. On top of that, he also earned 3 service aces, 3 digs, and 1 block assist. That puts him at 46 kills on the season so far and he has only played in 3 of the 6 games. 

Young Oaks Getting Minutes

8 of the 9 Oaks that participated in today's sweep were underclassmen. Julius StiemerMathias Durfee, and William Lawler were the freshmen of the pack. Durfee served up 2 aces the minute he stepped foot on the court to end set 2 and had two block assists. In his first game as a starter, William Lawler dished out a career high 29 assists. Among the sophomores playing, Jack Kane dominated with 5 kills, 5 digs, 2 block assists and 1 ace. The Oaks young talent was shining today!

Menlo has a quick turn around as they have a doubleheader showdown tomorrow against RV Westcliff and UC Santa Cruz in Santa Cruz, CA. First match against Westcliff begins at 2pm and the second match against the Slugs starts at 7pm!
