Game Recap: Women's Basketball | | Drew Barton

Oaks Defeat Western Montana at the Buzzer 72-69 at the Cactus Classic

Chandler, AZ-Menlo Women's Basketball wraps up their time in Arizona at the Cactus Classic 2-0. In what was a close game from tip-off with eight lead changes and four ties, the Oaks pulled off the victory thanks to three at the buzzer from sophomore guard Alberte Frisch! The team has now won two in a row and will turn their attention to the start of GSAC play as the new year rolls around!

Alberte Frisch Catches Fire

Fans will remember Alberte Frisch's three for the win with the clock expiring. Yet, it was her performance all game long that helped propel the Oaks to victory. For the game she scored a team high 19 points, hit two threes and knocked down 7-11 shots from the floor. Frisch has made a name for herself as an eclectic offensive threat for the Oaks dating back to last season's playoffs. Today's performance marks her highest scoring effort of the season and she has now scored in double figures three straight games. For the year, Frisch is now averaging 10.4 points per game and is now finding her offensive groove just in time for Arizona Christian's visit to Haynes-Prim Pavilion as GSAC play begins.

Rosette & Huggins Continue to Roll

While Frisch handled business along the perimeter, the pair of Jordyn Rosette and Jasmyne Huggins were dynamic at the forward positions. Huggins put together arguably her best game of the year against Montana State University-Northern. She followed that performance up with another strong outing that was highlighted by a 10 point, 11 rebound double-double. Huggins has now started in two straight games for the Oaks and has brought a physicality and rebounding presence to the interior for coach Spataro.

Jordyn Rosette has quietly been the glue for this Oaks squad, particularly on the defensive end of the ball. All Rosette did today was score 16 points, hand out two assists and swipe three steals. She also had her best shooting night from behind the arc on the year after hitting three of four shots from deep. Rosette is up to seven double digit scoring performances including four straight.

Up Next…

The non-conference schedule has officially wrapped for the Oaks. The beginning of the teams GSAC schedule will start as January rolls around with both Arizona Christian and OUAZ coming to visit Haynes-Prim Pavilion the first week of the new year!
