Grad, Soohoo, Roach and Bowman to Play in D2-NAIA Challenge

Menlo College Football's Cam Grad, Brandon Soohoo, Keith Bowman and Ray Roach will take part in the D2-NAIA Challenge on Dec. 20 in Myrtle Beach, S.C., at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.

The game is part of the new National Scouting Showcase and Collegiate Development Football League (CDFL).

Grad, a four-year standout linebacker, recorded 163 career tackles and boasts 14.5 career sacks – both good to rank him in the top five all-time amongst Menlo College football players. In his senior season alone, Grad racked up 65 tackles (44 solo and 21 assisted) and a team-high six sacks. Both of those marks serve as career bests for the Lake Tapps, Wash. native who appeared in 32 career contests for the Oaks.

Joining Grad as a D2-NAIA Challenge team member is senior wide receiver Brandon Soohoo. A native of Elk Grove, Calif., Soohoo posted his most productive season as a senior, racking up nearly 700 all-purpose yards as a receiver and kick returner. He totaled a career-best 143 yards on nine receptions in the Aug. 23 season opener against Eastern Oregon. In total, Soohoo pulled down 45 passes for 647 yards (14.4 yards per catch) with three touchdowns in his senior campaign.

Also competing in the D2-NAIA Challenge is senior defensive back and 2014 team captain Ray Roach. A native of Danville, Calif., Roach appeared in all 11 of the team's games, recording 33 total tackles (25 solo, eight assisted) a pair of which went for a loss. Roach also forced and recovered a fumble and had four pass break ups on the campaign.

The fourth and final Oak set to partake in the game is tight end Keith Bowman. An All-American basketball player at Menlo prior to joining the gridiron this season, Bowman battled through an injury to play in six games as a senior. The Santa Maria, Calif. native pulled down five passes for 21 yards and a touchdown.

WHAT IS THE CDFL?

The Collegiate Development Football league (CDFL), is a football organization devoted to providing skill development and game playing opportunities for post high school and post college players between the ages of 18-25. The CDFL is nationally recognized for its development of four collegiate showcase football games; the "D3 Senior Classic", the "FCS Senior Scout Bowl", the" D2 vs. NAIA Challenge," – all making-up the CDFL's National Scouting Showcase (NSS). In addition to these collegiate events, the CDFL also provides two professional showcase games for international free-agents world-wide: The "Euro-American Challenge (EAC)" and the "International Scout Bowl (ISB)." On the eve of the College football season, the CDFL releases its All-American Selections. All of the events and the selections are examples of the CDFL's efforts to provide football scouting opportunities for players to continue their careers beyond college.
