Shannon Spataro prepares to enter her 17th season as the head coach of Menlo’s Women’s Basketball program. Under her guidance the women’s basketball team has consistently been one of the premier programs in Menlo’s athletic department.

Entering this season, Coach Spataro owns a stellar 290-180 overall record (62% Winning Percentage) and a 151-82 conference record (65% Winning Percentage). The 2024-2025 season would be another strong showing by Coach Spataro’s program with the team’s list of accomplishments as follows:

  • 16-11 Overall Record - Coach Spataro’s fourth consecutive season with at least 16 wins.
  • 12-8 Conference Record, nine-game win streak from Jan. 23 to Feb. 22.
  • Jordyn Rosette and Alberte Frisch named to All-PacWest Team.
  • 2 Players Enter Menlo Women’s Basketball Record Books including Rosette in 1,000-Point Club.
  • 16 Players Named Academic All-PacWest honorees.
  • WBCA Academic Team Special Mention.
  • Jordyn Rosette Named Women’s Winter Sport Athlete of the Year.
  • Aliya Hunter Named Menlo F. Philler Curtis Award.
This season just further highlights the successful program Coach Spataro has been able to build during her tenure at the helm. On top of this year’s accolades, Coach Spataro also has added the following to her resume in both Cal Pac and GSAC play over the years:
  • Reached the California Pacific Conference Tournament Championship Game five of seven seasons. 
  • Won the Cal Pac Tournament three of the final four years in the conference.
  • Produced 36 All-Conference honorees.
  • Earned 26 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
  • Earned 28 GSAC Scholar-Athletes.
  • Was awarded 4 Cal Pac Defenders of the Year.
  • Earned a Cliff Hamlow Champion of Character.
  • Featured a Newcomer of the Year.
  • Featured a Freshman of the Year.
  • Was awarded two Players of the Year.
  • Has 15 NAIA All-Americans.
  • Has been an NAIA Scholar-Team nine times.
  • Saw Coach Spataro named the California Pacific Conference’s Coach of Character for the 2013-14 season.
A two-time All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference player at Pomona-Pitzer (1991-95), Coach Spataro returned to the West Coast to be the second women's basketball head coach in Menlo College history. Coach Spataro has been a successful assistant the prep, AAU, and collegiate levels, having coached at:

  • Kansas
  • San Jose State
  • Texas-Pan American
  • Lynn University in Boca Raton, FL.
