Ashley Carter returns to Menlo Softball after completing a year in the role of Associate Director of Admissions. Prior to her return to Menlo College, she served for two years as the Head Softball Coach at Notre Dame de Namur University.

While at NDNU, Coach Carter’s main focus was on building the complete athlete experience with the intention of developing life and leadership skills within her players. Not only did the culture change within this program, but each year the program progressed in offensive numbers and wins.

Prior to NDNU, Coach Carter was a Volunteer Assistant Coach under Coach Matt Lisle here at Menlo College. The first year coaching staff created a new culture of success for Menlo Softball, including:

  • Winning 20 games on the season, which was the most since 2002.
  • Moving into the preseason tournament as the 1st place team in the first year in the GSAC.
  • Breaking five single season records: HR’S (49), BA (.319), SLG% (.490), Hits (435), Runs (297)
  • Breaking six individual eason records: HR’s (15), AB’s (181), Hits (72), Runs (43), RBI’s (43), 2B’s (16).

Coach Carter went on to play Division 1 Softball at Grambling State University. After earning her Kinesiology undergraduate degree, and her Sport Administration Master’s Degree, Coach Carter relocated to Albuquerque, NM., where she interned in Stadium Operations, with the AAA Minor League Baseball team the Albuquerque Isotopes. For the next four years, Coach Carter was the Head Coach of the La Cueva High School Softball Team. They reined as the District Champions and competed in the state tournament, all four years of her tenure as head coach. Players from her program have gone on to play at the Division 1, Division 2 and NAIA level, all while holding GPA’s of 3.6 and above.
