Todd Hollenbeck

Coach Hollenbeck enters his third season at the helm of Menlo College Men's Volleyball after an incredible 17-1 start to the 2020 campaign.  In his first two seasons, Coach Hollenbeck has amassed a record of 29-13 and has had the Oaks ranked as high as #3 in the NAIA.  He has coached two All-Americans, three All-GSAC team members, two GSAC freshmen of the year, one GSAC Player of the Year, and was named the 2020 GSAC Coach of the Year.

Todd Hollenbeck was hired to succeed Atlee Frechette as the second head coach in the program's brief history. Hollenbeck brings a wealth of coaching experience in California to the San Francisco Bay Area, including stops at the University of Southern California and the University of California Santa Cruz.

Hollenbeck arrives at Menlo College most recently from the University of Southern California, where he was an assistant coach for the Trojans since 2015. During his time in Los Angeles, Hollenbeck was in charge of all recruiting responsibilities and practice schedules while also having a role in technical and tactical training techniques. The Trojans won 29 games over the last three seasons with Hollenbeck on staff. In addition to his duties at USC, also is the head coach of the Southern California Volleyball Association Youth National Team and the Southern California Volleyball Club in Carson, where he has won the gold medal in the USA High Performance Championships twice.

Previous to joining the Trojan's coaching staff, Hollenbeck was the head coach at the University of California Santa Cruz, leading the Banana Slugs for five seasons and heading the women's program for three seasons. During his five seasons with the men's team, they finished each year ranked no lower than seventh in the NCAA DIII rankings. Not only did they enjoy regular season success, they also found themselves as regulars in the postseason, culminating in a Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) championship in 2012. That year, Hollenbeck earned CVC Coach of the Year honors and followed that up in 2015 by earning American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Coach of the Year honors for guiding the Slugs to a 23-5 mark. Across five season, his men's volleyball team amassed a record of 76-43.

His coaching experience goes back to 2007 when he began as an assistant coach for the girls and boys varsity team at Peninsula High School in Palos Verdes. Along the way, he's also coached at Cabrillo College, the Main Beach Boys Volleyball Club, and the Mountain View Volleyball Club.

Hollenbeck earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of the Pacific in Stockton in 2007. His education also featured a focus on Marketing, two staples of the Menlo College academic offering. He was an outside hitter and middle blocker for the Tigers during his time as a student-athlete, and he also played on the AVP and CBVA beach circuit, and for a brief stint professionally in Germany.
