Eddie Hernandez

Eduardo Hernandez comes to Menlo Men’s Soccer with over a decade of coaching experience.

A native of the East Bay, Hernandez played collegiate soccer at Warner Pacific University, of the NAIA, in Portland, Oregon. He also played for the U23 Timbers team of USL 1, JASA in the UPSL, and the Oakland Stompers in the NPSL.

Hernandez holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development from California State University, East Bay and a Masters Degree in Coaching and Athletics Administration from Concordia University, Irvine. He served as a Graduate Assistant Coach for the Ohlone College men’s team from 2019 to 2021, often arriving to training early to provide personal help to specific players. He then spent 15 months as a head coach of three Force Youth Soccer Club boys teams in San Mateo, which entailed recruiting players, holding tryouts, and leading training sessions.

Since May of 2021, he has been the Technical Director of the Fremont Rush Youth Soccer Club. He helps coach and sets lesson plans for all teams associated with the club, sets up and hosts club meetings to set coach objectives and standards, and oversees administrative tasks such as setting budgets and hiring coaches. He is also a staff member at Path 2 Pro, a soccer scouting agency, where he sets up scouting combines, identifies players with professional-level talent, and communicates with trialists, professional coaches, and professional players.

Over the course of his professional career, he has coached against several notable teams, including the San Jose Earthquakes of MLS, Monterey Bay of the USL Championship, and Guatemala’s U23 national team.

Hernandez describes himself as having a “holistic coaching approach,” in which he views each player as more than just an athlete. This style, he says, has brought him continued success over the course of his career.
