Matt Daily enters his second year in charge of the Oaks baseball program for the 2009-10 school year. Daily arrived at Menlo after serving three years as the Director of Baseball Operations at NCAA Div. I Santa Clara University. In his inaugural season in Atherton, Daily's nine registered a 17-19 mark, winning 16 of its final 24 games against NCAA Div. III and NAIA competition.

After graduating cum laude from University of Notre Dame in 1998, Daily began his coaching career that year as an assistant at Del Mar Junior College in Corpus Christi, Tex. In 1999, he was a major contributor in the start-up of the NCAA Div. I Texas A&M-Corpus Christi baseball program.
 
After earning his Master's degree in Education from Notre Dame in 2000, Daily joined the baseball staff at the University of Portland. There he served as the team's hitting instructor, working with outfielders and assisting in the recruiting process as well.
 
In 2001, Daily returned to his roots at the NCAA Div. III level at Lewis & Clark College where he served as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. Daily played center field for the Pioneers from 1994-96. In the summer of 2002 he served as assistant coach of the St. Cloud River Bats in the Northwoods Collegiate Baseball League to current Menlo Assistant Coach Matt Allison.
 
After a stint as an assistant at Georgetown University, Daily moved up to the professional ranks, serving as an associate scout for the San Diego Padres. His duties included evaluating potential prospects in the Indiana and Michigan regions and administering open tryouts for potential players.
 
A native of the Bay Area, Daily graduated from Los Gatos High and was an all-league performer for the Wildcats in football and baseball. He is currently married to the former Jenny West of Steamboat Springs, Colo. They reside in San Bruno, Calif.
