Biography

2021-22:
In his junior year, Jacob was unbeaten in the Cascade Collegiate Championship Tournament to advance to the championship match where he faced the 20th ranked wrestler in the nation. A narrow loss that included a tie-breaking point would earn Mendoza 2nd place and an automatic bid to the NAIA Nationals. The Oak would go on to have one of the best performances of the Menlo team in Park City, Kansas. On day one Jacob finished the day with an upset 8-4 victory over the 2nd ranked wrestler in the NAIA. Day two began with some tough losses but Mendoza responded with a win over Southern Oregon to take 5th place on the national stage. Jacob was the highest finisher of the Oaks in 2022 and earned All-American status for his second time.   

2019-20:

Went 21-16 in his first season with the Oaks...Scored 60 takedowns on the season...Placed fifth at the Bill Musick Invitational...Placed fourth wrestling up a weight class at 133 at the Menlo Invitational...Had his strongest showing at the California Collegiate Open, placing second overall...Placed fifth in the CCC Tournament to earn a spot at Nationals...Placed fourth at Nationals, falling only to the #1 and #2 ranked wrestlers in the country and downing #3 and #4 to earn All-American Status.

Previous Experience:

Transferred to Menlo from Highline College in Washington...Originally hails from Sunnyside, Washington.
