ATHERTON, CA – Lyla Devereaux has announced her commitment to Play Overseas, a postgraduate program that allows student-athletes to continue competing while pursuing a Master's degree in the United Kingdom. "I am so excited to get the opportunity to keep playing football, and I'm so grateful for the Menlo College Women's Soccer team leading me through my journey," said Devereaux.
A midfielder from Temecula, Devereaux transferred to Menlo College from Northern State University in 2023 and quickly became a dependable presence in the Oaks' midfield. Over the past three seasons, Devereaux established herself through her work ethic, consistency, and composure on the ball. She appeared in 40 matches with 25 starts, recording two goals, two assists, and more than 2,300 minutes played during her Menlo career.
One of the defining moments of her senior season came in a road matchup against Jessup University, when Devereaux scored the game-winning goal in a hard-fought 1-0 non-conference victory. Throughout her time with the Oaks, Devereaux earned the respect of teammates and coaches alike through her grit, leadership, and commitment to the program, leaving a lasting impact on the team culture both on and off the field.
"Lyla has been the definition of consistency and professionalism since the day she arrived on campus," said Matthew Kemp. "She competes every day with tremendous heart, brings stability to the program, and leads by example through her work ethic and character. Lyla has been all in from day one, she's loved by everyone and we're incredibly proud of everything she's accomplished here at Menlo and excited to see her continue both her academic and soccer journey overseas."
Devereaux will graduate from Menlo with a degree in Psychology before beginning the next chapter of her academic and athletic journey overseas.
The Menlo College community congratulates Lyla on this opportunity and wishes her continued success in the United Kingdom.
