Oak's Wrap Up Season in Maples Pavilion Fighting Against the Cardinal

ATHERTON, Calif. – The Menlo College Men's Volleyball team wrapped up its 2026 regular season on the road Saturday evening, taking on Stanford University inside Maples Pavilion. The Oaks battled throughout the match but fell in straight sets (16-25, 16-25, 13-25) against the Cardinal in their final MPSF contest of the year.
 
Set-By-Set Recap
The first set saw the Oaks fighting the Cardinal's efficient offense trying to stop a lead. The Oaks would go on see points contributed by Keau Thompson, Xavier Cordova, and Garrett Hockman to stay within reach. The Oaks also found success at the net with key blocks, but the Cardinal maintained momentum to take the first set 25-16.
 
The second set saw Menlo continue to compete despite another fast start from Stanford. Thompson led the charge offensively, while Max Jarrett and Mark Ensalaco added timely kills to keep the Oaks in the fight. Menlo produced late defensive stops and capitalized on Stanford miscues, but the home side secured another 25-16 win to move ahead two sets to none.
 
In the third, the Oaks searched for a comeback against the Cardinal. Menlo received contributions from multiple players, including kills from Thompson, Hockman, and Jarrett, while continuing to battle through long rallies. Stanford closed the match with a 25-13 final set, bringing the regular-season finale to an end.
 
Oak's Top Performances
  • Keau Thompson paced the offense with a team-high of nine kills while adding a block assist to total 9.5 points in the final game of the year.
  • Xavier Cordova saw the starting lineup the entire match, adding two kills while rotating at setter in the third for six assists and a service ace.
  • Max Jarrett also saw the entire match with 3 kills and 2 blocks on the night as the main middle blocker with Garrett Hockman also rotating in with 2 kills and 2 block assists.
 
Season Wrapped Up
After concluding the final regular season matchup, the Oak's will now focus their attention towards rebuilding for a push next season for more MPSF action next Spring.
