PacWest Weekly Awards (Mar. 2)
LONG BEACH, CA – Treating their Haynes-Prim Pavilion crowd to a pair of thrilling victories to end the 2025-26 season, Menlo Men's Basketball was named Pacific West Conference Team of the Week following victories over Chaminade and Vanguard.
Oaks Pour In Over 170 Points Across Perfect Week
Beginning with a
Feb. 24 matchup hosting Chaminade, Menlo resiliently battled back against an early 17-point deficit to go up by five prior to halftime. Then, despite holding a 19-point advantage midway through the second half, the Oaks found themselves down by one point with seconds left, setting up a heroic tip-in by freshman forward
Luke Wieskamp. Senior forward
Nick High dropped a career-high 31 points in the contest while sophomore guard
Kai Brown added 20 points.
Menlo then honored its three seniors on
Feb. 28 ahead of another exciting result hosting Vanguard. The Lions led by as many as 17 midway through the second half only to see that margin quickly dwindle as dunks by senior forward
JaMaal Unuakhalu and sophomore guard
Quentin Thompson keyed a 14-0 surge before Thompson struck again with a 3-pointer in the final two minutes to put the Oaks ahead for good.
Menlo finished the 2025-26 season as the PacWest's blocks per game leader (4.39) and ranked second in free throw percentage (.761).
