Ferdani Tallies 10 Kills in Oaks Battle Against No. 6 Pepperdine

ATHERTON, CA – The Menlo Men's Volleyball program hosted the Waves of Pepperdine for a NorCal/SoCal showdown inside of Haynes-Prim Pavilion, despite showing signs of promise in the sets played, the Oaks would fall in straight sets, 16-25, 15-25, 12-25.

Set-by-Set Recap
The opening set began as both teams traded points early, with the Oaks looking to establish its offensive rhythm through Alexandre Ferdani. Ferdani would go on to earn 5 kills in the set while, Gabriel Ocasio Lopez and Vojtech Simunek earned two block assists each at the net. The Oaks would fight to stay within striking distance, but Pepperdine's attack created separation mid-set to take the opener 25-16.

Pepperdine carried their momentum in the second frame, despite Ferdani and Mathias Durfee earning points to keep the Oaks in the battle. With a chance to take the lead after the media timeout, the Waves would go on a six-point run to create a comfortable lead to take another set 25-15.

The third set saw the Oaks come out with the lead early. However, the Waves would respond back at the service line, with Menlo giving up six service aces in the set. Joshua Friedman would spread the offense around to Mathias DurfeeMax Jarrett, and Ferdani to push for momentum, but the Wave's offense and serving proved too much, with Pepperdine eventually securing the match with a 25-12 final set.
