Menlo Finishes the Job in Hayward

Menlo wasted no time setting the tone in the top of the first inning. Shane Aldridge led off with a double and later scored on a defensive miscue, giving the Oaks an early advantage. With traffic on the bases, Aiden van Kimmenaede delivered a clutch single up the middle that drove in two more runs, capping a three-run opening frame. The Oaks added to their lead in the second when Aldridge worked a walk, advanced, and scored on an RBI ground-rule double from Matt Morrison to make it 4-0.

Cal State East Bay answered with two runs in the bottom of the second, but Rodriguez settled in and held the line over the next several innings. Menlo created more separation in the fourth inning as Aldridge and Oliver Hogan sparked a two-out rally. Morrison came through again with an RBI single, and a throwing error allowed another run to cross the plate, stretching the lead to 6-2. The Oaks' pitching and defense took over from there, with Rodriguez finishing six solid innings before handing the ball to Sam Purgason.

Menlo tacked on an insurance run in the ninth as Marcus McClenon was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, bringing home Shane Aldridge for a 7-3 advantage. Cal State East Bay scratched across a late run in the bottom half, but Purgason closed the door to secure the 7-4 victory and the save. The win capped a resilient performance for the Oaks, who responded well after the previous day's loss.
