Friedman Maneuvers Offense Efficiently Despite Oaks Falling to Purdue Fort Wayne

SAINT CHARLES, MO – The Menlo Men's Volleyball program held their first match of the Under Armour Challenge against Purdue Fort Wayne, showcasing resilience late in the match but ultimately fell in straight sets against the Mastodons.

Set-by-Set Breakdown
The match started with the Oaks staying within striking distance early in the opening set, trading points through the middle stages with kills from Mark Ensalaco and Max Jarrett. Purdue Fort Wayne began to separate late behind a strong run by capitalizing on transition opportunities, closing the set on a late push to take a 1-0 lead.

The Mastodons carried momentum in the second with the Oaks struggling to find rhythm. Joshua Friedman would see the starting lineup again to help the Oaks offense, setting up Keau Thompson with four kills in the set along with Ty Carson earning three. Despite a brief Menlo run midway through the set, Purdue Fort Wayne maintained control to extend the lead to two sets.

The third set was the Oak's strongest showing of the evening, featuring the Oaks taking the lead at points throughout the bout. The Oaks would earn two more kills than the Mastadons in the set but would force the Oaks into multiple attack errors. Menlo matched Purdue Fort Wayne point-for-point but would close the match in a tightly contested 23-25 finish.
