Oaks Best Moments
Hannes Uses His Head
The Oaks came out aggressive, generating early chances through Roy Rosenberg, Isak Haukefaer, and Johan Mendoza Aguilar, all testing East Bay's keeper within the opening 10 minutes. The breakthrough came in the 35th minute when Giuseppe Sigala served a dangerous corner into the box. David Stuber rose above his defender to flick the ball toward the 6-yard box, where Hannes Herrstrom was waiting to bury the shot and give Menlo the lead. The goal stood as the Oaks' first of the season and proved to be the game-winner.
From there, Menlo's defense and goalkeeper Martin Fiala took command. Fiala denied multiple dangerous looks from the Pioneers, including key saves in the 50th, 69th, and 83rd minutes. His six-save performance and composed leadership anchored the Oaks' defensive shape. Late attempts from CSUEB were turned aside, preserving Menlo's clean sheet and sealing their first victory of the year. The Oaks counterattack towards goal was lethal today, showing off smart ball movement and strategic passes up the line. They looked dominant the entire 90 minutes which is what Oaks Men's Soccer fans can look forward to as the season progresses!
