VALLEJO, CA – Menlo Women's Soccer made history on Thursday afternoon, recording the most goals in program history with a commanding 20-0 victory over Cal Maritime in a non-conference preseason matchup. Eleven different Oaks found the back of the net, showcasing depth, precision, and relentless energy in the team's final tune-up before PacWest play begins.

Oaks Make History with 20-Goal Performance
The Oaks wasted no time, with Liv Brunzell scoring just 19 seconds into the match to spark an offensive outpour. By the 10th minute, Menlo was already ahead 3-0 with two quick strikes from Kaylin Gonzalez. Brunzell's early hat trick was completed before the 15th minute, setting the tone for a dominant first half. Haley Dunham added three of her own before halftime, including a composed penalty conversion in the 29th minute. Devyn Casteel and Sarah Naumu each got on the board as Menlo carried a double-digit lead into the break.
The second half continued in similar fashion, with Menlo controlling possession and firing from every angle. Kawai Acopan netted twice in under two minutes, while Thalhamer, Rathfon, Correa, Canchola, and Hratchian each found their first goals of the year. Freshman Verenia Gonzalez added a brace, including a late strike in the 89th minute to cap off the historic day.
Team statistics reflected Menlo's dominance: 65 total shots (45 on goal), 15 corners, and a relentless press that forced Cal Maritime's defense into constant recovery mode. Goalkeepers Melcore and Roberts were rarely tested but stayed sharp to secure the combined shutout.
Though the final margin was historic, the match provided valuable opportunities for rotation, player development, and celebration of shared success. Every Oak contributed to the victory, reinforcing the team's depth heading into conference play.
