Oaks Fall to Stanford in a Tough Battle Inside of Haynes-Prim Pavilion

ATHERTON, CA – The Menlo College Men's Volleyball team held a PacWest matchup inside of Haynes-Prim Pavilion against next door neighbors, the Stanford Cardinal. The Oaks put up a valiant effort throughout the match despite falling in three sets.
 
MATCH RECAP
The Oaks were off to a hot start in the first set with their offense firing on all cylinders. Menlo was able to earn their highest lead of the night by going up 18-10 before Stanford called their second timeout. However, the Cardinal's came back from being down by so much and took a tough set 23-25 The second set was a different story, the Oaks were going point-for-point up until Stanford pulled away once again in the middle of the set to go up 0-2 with a chance to close out the match. The third set saw the Oaks climbing to take a lead, however Stanford's offense was turned up a notch as they came out with a .520 hitting percentage with various blocking plays in the set, closing out the match 19-25.

Key Oak Performances
Mustafa Selçuk Uyar led the Oaks offense with 10 kills on the night with 1 ace, and 1 solo block. William Lawler orchestrated the offense for the Oaks as he was able to dish out 29 assists on the night. Wojciech Nowak was second to Uyar in kills with 8 on the night while accumulating 2 block assists for the night. The main libero for the Oaks was Makana Melchor, who anchored in a team high 7 digs in the match.
