COSTA MESA, CA – Menlo Women's Basketball wrapped up their inaugural NCAA Division II season with a hard-fought battle against Vanguard University, ultimately falling 65-58 at the Freed Center for Leadership and Service. Despite the loss, the Oaks delivered a dominant fourth-quarter defensive performance, holding the Lions to just three points in the final 10 minutes. This inaugural DII season was filled with an incredible amount of growth, dedication, and a 9-game winning streak that the Oaks persevered to earn.

Jordyn Rosette led all scorers with 23 points, adding 8 rebounds and 2 steals.

Alberte Frisch followed with 18 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals.

Mehkia Applewhite was a force on the boards, securing a team-high 10 rebounds to go with 2 points and 3 steals.

Left it All Out There
Menlo finished the game shooting 36.5% from the field and hit 5-of-27 (18.5%) from three-point range. The Oaks were efficient at the free-throw line, converting 7-of-9 (77.8%). Despite struggling with turnovers (27 total), Menlo's defense forced 28 Vanguard turnovers and tallied 15 steals.
After a closely contested first half, Vanguard pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring Menlo 32-15. However, the Oaks refused to back down, responding with an incredible defensive stand in the fourth quarter. Menlo allowed just three points in the final frame, cutting into the deficit but ultimately running out of time to complete the comeback.
With the loss, Menlo closes the season at 16-11 overall and 12-8 in PacWest play, landing at #6 in the conference standings. Unfortunately, due to the NCAA transition rule, the Oaks are ineligible for postseason competition despite finishing in a tournament-qualifying position.

Alberte Frisch finished the season ranked #6 in scoring, #9 in field goal percentage, #5 in free throw percentage, and #11 in assists in the PacWest.
Jordyn Rosette ranked #10 in scoring, #7 in rebounding, #7 in field goal percentage, #6 in steals, #7 in blocks, and #2 in minutes played.
Looking Ahead
The Oaks conclude a historic season in their first year at the NCAA Division II level. With a strong core of players and a competitive spirit, Menlo looks ahead to building on this success in the coming years.
