Menlo Women’s Volleyball Secures Set, Warriors Defend Home Court

ROCKLIN, CA – Winning at least one set in each of their last six matches, Menlo Women's Volleyball bested Jessup in the third and nearly had the fourth, but the Warriors were able to rally for Thursday's 3-1 (18-25, 11-25, 25-19, 22-25) Pacific West Conference victory inside Warrior Arena.

Oaks Highlights
-The duo of Fuka Kikuchi (12) & Dayjah McFadden (10) combined for 22 kills
-Ruby Santos' sixth double-double of the year saw her collect 11 digs and 10 assists plus three aces

Final Two Sets See Oaks With Efficient Hitting
Multiple kills from junior outside hitter Fuka Kikuchi and senior middle blocker Janet Moala helped Menlo jump out to a 10-6 lead to start the match, but a 5-0 Jessup run was soon followed by another 4-0 push that put the Warriors in position to come away 25-18 victors. That momentum shift gave way to an 8-2 beginning to the second set as Jessup later used a 6-0 burst to power their 25-11 result.

In the third set, an 8-1 run highlighted by kills from Kikuchi, senior middle blocker/opposite Maya Saole-Su'e, and freshman outside hitter Dayjah McFadden took the Oaks from down one point to up five at 13-8. McFadden soon sent down back-to-back kills from different teammates to maintain the margin and Kikuchi ultimately put the finishing touches on a 25-19 final with a kill followed by a service ace.

Though the home team held a five-point advantage early in the fourth frame, that difference was steadily cut down until three unanswered points (including two McFadden kills) tied things at 22-22. In the end, Jessup had just enough to take the last three points, securing the conference win on a 25-22 score.

Up Next
As the calendar turns to November, the Oaks will return to Haynes-Prim Pavilion for their final two home matches versus Chaminade (Nov. 5) and Hawaii Pacific (Nov. 7) each at 6 pm.
