SAN DIEGO, CA – Menlo College Women's Soccer hit the road for their first PacWest Conference test of the 2025 season, facing Point Loma Nazarene University on Thursday afternoon. The Oaks fought hard in a gritty contest but ultimately fell 0-4 to the Sea Lions. Despite being under pressure for much of the game, Menlo showed resilience on defense and created moments of danger on the counterattack.

Oaks Battle Hard
From the opening whistle, Menlo's defense was called into action as Point Loma applied consistent pressure. Senior goalkeeper Giorgia Melcore showcased her composure with a pair of early saves, including a stop in the 24th minute that kept the Oaks within striking distance. Despite Point Loma scoring three times in the first half, Menlo remained composed and sought their chances on the break. The Oaks had several looks of their own in the opening period, with Kaylin Gonzalez and Aaliyah Grigsby both testing the Sea Lions early. In the 33rd minute, Haley Dunham nearly broke through with a shot on frame, forcing a tough save from PLNU's goalkeeper. Menlo's counterattacks proved dangerous, but the final touch to find the back of the net remained unfound.
The second half saw Menlo continue to battle, tightening defensively while searching for a breakthrough. Ophelia Jones and Gonzalez each created chances down the stretch, while Melcore added three more saves to her tally. Point Loma added a late goal in the 83rd minute to secure the 0-4 result, but the Oaks showed determination in creating opportunities until the final whistle. Menlo finished with six shots, two on goal, while the Sea Lions recorded 17 attempts, including eight on target. Each side had three corners, while Menlo totaled seven fouls and one yellow card in a physical road contest.
