Four Seniors, Four Goals, One Big Win
The Sunbirds struck first in the 10th minute when they converted a through ball to put Fresno Pacific ahead early, 0-1. The Oaks didn't stay quiet for long—just seven minutes later, Roy Rosenberg found David Stuber open on the back post who then headed it in the direction of the 6-yard box. Isak Haukefaer would be the one to use his head to find the back of the net, igniting the home crowd. Momentum swung Menlo's way when Stuber confidently buried a penalty kick in the 25th minute after a foul was drawn by Tyler Maas inside the box, giving the Oaks a 2-1 lead that held into halftime.
Menlo came out energized in the second half, determined to finish Senior Day in style. Senior Parker Faeth extended the lead in the 62nd minute with a composed finish assisted by Jose "Chicha" Garcia, who was again at the heart of the action just one minute later, setting up Johan Mendoza Aguilar for Menlo's fourth goal of the match. The Sunbirds managed a late goal in the 88th minute, but it was too little, too late, as the Oaks secured a thrilling 4-2 win in front of an enthusiastic OAKtoberfest crowd.
Both teams traded physical play throughout the afternoon, combining for seven yellow cards. Menlo's defensive unit, anchored by seniors Donald Holliday, David Stuber, and Tyler Maas remained poised under pressure, while Fiala's four saves and Castro-Jimenez's closing minutes made for a fitting senior sendoff.
