The Oaks wasted no time building an 11-3 advantage out of the gate with junior outside hitter
Fuka Kikuchi posting back-to-back kills and senior middle blocker/opposite
Maya Saole-Su'e sandwiching a block alongside freshman middle blocker/opposite
Sophia Kelso with a pair of kills. A 10-3 run thereafter put Menlo in a position to finish off the 25-14 set victory on consecutive put-aways by Saole-Su'e.
The second set shifted in the Oaks' favor midway through when an 11-3 run was powered by kills from freshman outside hitter
Dayjah McFadden, Kikuchi, and Saole-Su'e. That gave way to the exclamation points from senior middle blocker
Janet Moala who soared for kills assisted by junior setter
Ruby Santos and freshman setter
Jolianna Salazar at 24-15 and 25-16.
A brief three-point lead for Menlo was the largest difference in the early part of the third frame before a 12-12 tie was broken by a 7-1 surge nearly fully composed of kills from Kikuchi and Saole-Su'e. Though Dominican fought back to cut the margin to one at 23-22, the seniors closed the door for the 25-22 win.
