Surprise, AZ-Menlo Men's Tennis playoff run officially got underway this morning with the Oaks facing off against OUAZ in their hometown of Surprise, Arizona. The second seeded Oaks made quick work of their opponent to the tune of a decisive 4-0 sweep. Menlo is now set to appear in the semifinal round and is one match away from an appearance in the championship round!
Spirit Unable to Slow Oaks in Doubles Play
As has been the case for much of the season, Menlo got off to a strong start in the doubles portion of the match winning two out of three sets with the third set not even needing to be completed. Tanguy Calicis and newly named all-conference winner Saar Rogovski would be the first pairing to win on the day. They would do so via a score of 6-1 never allowing the Spirit to even get remotely close. The second pairing highlighted the Oaks bright future with sophomore Ruben Russwurm and this year's Freshman of the Year, Robin Mcalpine, winning by a final score of 6-2. In other words, OUAZ had no answer for the Oaks once play got underway.
Three Quick Wins in Singles Play
Once the second portion of the match got underway it would be Asger Ildor turn to get onto the scoreboard. Ildor would go on to dominate his opponent, outscoring his OUAZ counterpart by a score of 12-1 across the two sets of play. Russwurm continued his hot streak of play once he got to take the court as an individual thanks to an equally impressive two set sweep in which he would win thanks to back to back 6-1 scores. The Oaks fourth and final point would come courtesy of Calicis who also made quick work of his opponent, beating him by a final score of 12-1 also through the two rounds of play.

Menlo now prepares to take on ACU with a trip to the conference finals on the line. Earlier this season back in Atherton, Menlo was able to defeat the Firestorm with relative ease thanks to a 4-0 sweep. Menlo will look to maintain that momentum albeit this time on a neutral court!
