Atherton, CA-Menlo Softball faced arguably their hardest test so far this season with the 11th ranked Jessup Warriors coming to town. Unfortunately, the Oaks were unable to ever really get their offense going as they could not secure a win in either game.
Game One: Menlo 1, Jessup 7
The first game of the day saw the Oaks fall behind early but the team continued to battle despite the deficit. For the game six different Oaks recorded a hit with starting shortstop Emma Medina chipping in a double while also drawing a walk. Meanwhile, freshman catcher Makayla Mentzer would drive in the Oaks lone run of the day while also drawing a walk.
Game Two: Menlo 0, Jessup 8
The second game of the day was another contest in which the teams offense continued to struggle to find a rhythm. They would still manage six hits with the duo of Medina and freshman Alexia Lozano adding two hits apiece. Lozano also stole a base and had some of the Oaks best defensive highlights of the day with some fancy glove work. She had multiple putouts and assists while manning second base for the Oaks.

Conference play is officially underway. The Oaks have played a tough schedule including multiple NCAA Division II schools and now the highly ranked Warriors from Jessup. This team will look to rebound after a pair of tough losses. They have a nice mixture of returning veterans and young players that should make for an intriguing run through the rest of the season.
