Oaks Baseball Battles with Warriors Before Falling in Game One of Series, 9-21

LINCOLN, CA – Oaks Baseball is at Jessup University for the weekend and Friday was game one of their first conference series on the road. The Warriors had a day in the batter's box and tallied up a 21-9 lead over the Oaks after 9 innings played. Menlo still had 10 hits and 9 runs scored against Jessup featuring a pair of homeruns from Jake Koeper and two other Oaks hitting it out of the park. Menlo will take the field again on Saturday for a doubleheader against Jessup.

Barrels Were Hot

Despite the loss today, Menlo still handled their bats extremely well against Jessup. Menlo scored their first run in the 2nd inning off of an RBI-single to left field from left fielder Jaden Fulsher to score his teammate in right field, Justin Flannery who was 2-3 on the day with 2 runs scored and a walk. Then, center fielder DJ Scott (2-3, 2 runs scored, 1 RBI) homered to left center field to add another run in the 3rd inning to make it 2-6. The 4th inning brought home Flannery once more after designated hitter Jonathan Charboneau hit a double to left center field leaving the score 3-6. At the top of the 5th and to lead off the inning, Koeper hit a solo homerun out of right field for his first time this season. Jessup added two more runs to their lead in the 6th to make it 4-10. With Scott and Jake Warkentine on base in the top of the 7th, Carter Harris hit a 3-RBI no-doubter out of right field to move the Oaks closer, 7-10.

From there the Warriors found the winds and hit an astounding 5 home runs in the 7th and 8th innings. Jake Koeper went from 0 home runs on the season to 2 in one game after another homer to right field in the 8th inning to score Pettener as well and make the score 9-16. The final score would stand 9-21 in what felt like a homerun derby this Friday afternoon.
