San Dimas, CA-With playoff seeding still very much on the line, Menlo Women's Basketball firmly kept themselves in the hunt for a potential number one seed with their dominant showing down at Life Pacific. On both ends of the court the Oaks controlled the game holding the Warriors to under 50 points while scoring over 80.
Oaks Dominate the Fourth Quarter
Despite leading from the opening tip, Menlo still had Life Pacific nipping at their heels throughout the game. Yet, as the fourth quarter rolled around it would be all Oaks as the team outscored the Warriors 28-10. Junior Frida Schmidt paced all players in the fourth quarter with seven points on 75% shooting. She also grabbed one of her five rebounds while also handing out an assist. The sharpshooter from Germany gives the Oaks a unique weapon to stretch the court and could be catching fire at the right time. Collectively, the Oaks would shoot 70% from the floor as a team including a blistering 60% from three. Meanwhile, they would simultaneously hold Life Pacific to only 10 points on three made field goals. Lastly, Menlo made sure to get everyone involved with 11 assists in the final frame of play.
Huggins, Boley & Rosette Silence the Crowd
Individually, the trio of Jasmyne Huggins, Shay Boley and Jordyn Rosette were spectacular as a collective and individually. Huggins would end up leading all players with 18 points but impacted the game far beyond scoring buckets. She pulled down seven boards, handed out three assists and had two steals as well. Shay Boley once again did a little bit of everything as well. She chipped in 13 points while running the point at a high level once again. With just one turnover, Boley remains one of the key driving forces of the Oaks offense. Lastly, Jordyn Rosette's quiet efficiency was on full display. She would shoot 50% from the floor, 50% from three while also blocking two shots.
Up Next…
The regular season finale is now on deck with one last trip to The Master's. Earlier this year, the Oaks defeated the Mustangs 96-83. Menlo's offense was firing on all cylinders during that matchup with six players in double figures for scoring as Kiara Brown led the way with 22 points. The Oaks currently sit at second place in the conference with a 10-3 record in GSAC play. Every game matters with such a tight race for the top!
