HAYWARD, CA – Menlo Women's Basketball came up short in their non-conference matchup against Cal State East Bay on Tuesday night at Pioneer Gym. Despite a late surge, the Oaks were defeated 60-72. The game marked Menlo's fourth contest of the season as they continue to refine their strategies ahead of conference play.
Sellers Keeps Oaks Close
Erin Sellers led the charge for Menlo with an outstanding performance, keeping the Oaks competitive throughout the game. Below were the key contributors for the Oaks:

Erin Sellers scored a team-high 20 points on 9-of-17 shooting, also contributing three steals and one block in 18 minutes.

East Bay Dominates the Glass and Fast Break
The game began with a quick East Bay lead, fueled by a strong first quarter in which they outscored Menlo 19-5. Menlo struggled offensively in the opening minutes, shooting only 18% in the first quarter compared to East Bay's 31%.
In the second quarter, the Oaks found their rhythm, scoring 16 points and narrowing the deficit to 17 points by halftime. Erin Sellers led the charge with consecutive baskets, supported by strong defensive plays from Jordyn Rosette. However, East Bay's dominance on the boards proved decisive; the Pioneers outrebounded the Oaks 53-35, including a staggering 21 offensive rebounds. Menlo managed to capitalize and score 21 points on East Bay's 19 turnovers, but could not produce much more.
The Oaks mounted a comeback in the fourth quarter, with Sellers leading a 24-point effort, but East Bay's consistent scoring and strong defense sealed the victory. Menlo shot 38% from the field and 23% from three-point range, compared to East Bay's 40% and 29%, respectively.
