Box Score Santa Cruz, CA-Menlo Men's Volleyball was the one of the last teams to compete today but they made sure to end the day on a high note picking up the 3-2 victory over UCSC! It went down to the final set but the team stayed locked in winning the fifth set with a decisive 15-10 final score! With their first game now under their belt the boys will look to continue to improve upon their 7th overall ranking in the NAIA!
Top Performers on the Road
As he has done throughout his Menlo career Konrad Stoklosinski led the way for the Oaks, particularly while on the attack. The fifth year senior posted a game high 17 kills to go along with a service ace and seven digs. Stoklosinski already has his name all over the record books and with one last year could look to further cement himself as one of the all-time greats to step inside Haynes-Prim Pavilion!
Fellow senior Dylan Cohan has continued his impressive play since returning from injury last year as well. With Stoklosinski leading the Oaks offense, Cohan did the same for Menlo's defense. Cohan chipped in eight kills and a service ace but was most impactful at turning away potential attacks from the Banana Slugs. For the match he had five block assists as well as two digs of his own.
The underclassmen also made sure to have their presence felt throughout the match with the duo of Julius Stiemer and Wojciech Nowak both submitting solid performances as well. Stiemer was second on the Oaks with 13 kills of his own. He also posted four service aces and eight digs. Nowak was also able to stuff the statsheet across a bunch of different statistical categories. First, he had a team high seven service aces but also added in two block assists, five assists and six digs. Sophomore setter Will Lawler also had a nice night for the Oaks with 36 assists to go along with four digs and four block assists as well!
Up Next…
The team will have just a few short hours before they are back on the court. Simpson University will be heading to Atherton to take the Oaks on inside Haynes-Prim Pavilion tomorrow for a 6 PM match!
