Women’s Basketball Picks Up 9th Straight Win Over TMU 96-83

Atherton, CA-The good times are still rolling inside Haynes-Prim Pavilion as Menlo Women's Basketball picked up their ninth straight victory to move to a perfect 6-0 in GSAC play. It was another total team effort with six different Oaks scoring in double figures as Menlo reached a new single game high in scoring for the season.

Offense Takes It Up A Notch

Scoring was the name of the game for Menlo and everyone seemingly had it going from the tip. As has been the case quite a few times, Kiara Brown would lead the way with 22 points on the night. She also did a little bit of everything throughout the course of the game as she also grabbed eight rebounds, had four assists and blocked two shots as well. It was a complete performance for the senior forward.

The duo of Jasmyne Huggins and Jordyn Rosette were also dominant throughout the course of the night. Rosette has taken her scoring to another level over the past month or so and that trend continued throughout tonight's matchup. Rosette added another 19 points to her resume including three made three point shots. Coming into this game she was shooting an absurd 70% from deep. Her hot hand from three has shown no signs of cooling off. Meanwhile, Jasmyne Huggins flirted with a triple-double in the Oaks win. Her 10 points came on a 5-10 shooting display but what really caught one's attention was her eight rebounds and nine assists! Huggins has added a new wrinkle into her game with some added passing ability and today that was on full display. On top of the offensive production she also added three blocks and a pair of steals for good measure.

Aliya Hunter has continued her breakout season as well. After spending last season as a member of the second unit, Hunter has now become a mainstay in coach Spataro's starting rotation. In just 25 minutes of action Hunter scored 15 points on a perfect 2-2 shooting display from three. She submitted a very well rounded boxscore for the game with four assists and four rebounds as well.

Lastly, Jesni Cooper and Alberte Frisch brought a high level of energy and scoring bunch off the bench today. Cooper has been a steady presence in the second unit with some scoring, rebounding and defense all year long. Today she brought the emphasis on the scoring with 10 points that came in a variety of ways. Not only did she make both of her three point shots but she put pressure on the rim as a driver all game long as well. Alberte Frisch has continued to be one of the most dynamic scorers in the GSAC and another 15 points and two steals confirms that statement. Frisch plays with a unique sense of speed and multiple dynamic moves in her arsenal. Her ability to breakdown defenders and score at all three levels makes her a nightmare matchup and her 6-7 shooting display further highlights the efficient and entertaining ways she is capable of scoring the basketball.

Up Next…

Life Pacific will be heading to Atherton this Saturday for their first meeting with the Oaks of the season. Last year Menlo swept the series winning both at home and on the road. With 10 straight wins on the line and it being Menlo Basketball Alumni Appreciation day, the Oaks are sure to have plenty of motivation to take care of business as the weekend rolls around!
