Atherton, CA-As has been in the case in almost all their conference matchups Menlo Men's Basketball found themselves in an absolute battle down to the final seconds of the game. Unfortunately, the final score would not be in favor of the Oaks as they would be on the losing end of the final 61-65 score. Still, there were some bright spots in what would be a tough loss.
Some Bright Spots Among a Tough Loss
First and foremost the continued play of Landon Seaman should be commended for the Oaks. Once again the Oaks starting center was phenomenal across the boxscore. For the game he would post a game high 20 points to go along with a game high 12 rebounds. With another double-double under his belt, Seaman is pushing his season long averages closer and closer to over 20 points and over 10 rebounds per game. As long as number 32 continues this level of play, Menlo will likely always find themselves in games.
Secondly, the Oaks battled on the boards all game long and would win the rebounding battle 44 to 33 including pulling down 17 offensive boards. While Seaman led the way with 12 rebounds, the pair of Kareem Rowe and Nick High were also active rebounders with eight and six respectively. Rowe in particular has become a really efficient rebounder given his rebounds per minutes played production. The Oaks will continue to lean on his physicality to keep their rebounding edge rolling as the season progresses.
Up Next…
Life Pacific is next on the docket for coach Brendan Rooney's squad. Last season the Oaks swept the season series winning both games. After this tough loss look to the Oaks to bring a sense of urgency to the court as they look to get back in the win column and end the first half of conference play on a high note.
