OAKS BATTLE FOR FOUR QUARTERS BUT FALL TO HIU 73-90

Atherton, CA- Menlo Women's Basketball GSAC tournament run unfortunately fell short on Saturday night against the Hope International Royals. While the Oaks ultimately fell 73-90, the team should still be proud of the past weekend of basketball. Over the last three days Menlo completed a 3-0 season sweep of Arizona Christian, upset nationally ranked Vanguard and competed for 40 minutes against HIU.

Hunter Boske Stays Hot

In their first round victory over ACU, senior sharpshooter Hunter Boske stole the show. Unfortunately, her 25 points came alongside an injury that limited her through the second round. Thankfully, with the championship on the line, Boske not only suited up but once again led the Oaks. In her 23 minutes of action, Boske knocked down three shots from behind the arc while leading the team in scoring with 13 points. She also chipped in three rebounds and a team high two steals. Boske has without a doubt endeared herself to fans of Menlo basketball after great outings in the playoffs.

Efficient Offense for Both Sides

Both teams were clearly dialed in from the start. By the time the final buzzer sounded each squad posted solid shooting splits. Menlo was particularly effective from deep and at the free throw line. From three the team converted 39% of their looks Jordyn RosetteVivian Woo and Hunter Boske all hitting multiple threes. The team was also focused at the free throw line, shooting 86% as a team. Unfortunately, Hope International was simply on fire, particularly from three. The Royals hit 16 total threes at a 50% clip. Their senior guard Ana Resendiz was a perfect seven for seven from three enroute to a shockingly efficient night.

Up Next…

While this loss clearly hurt the Oaks coaches, players and fans, all eyes now turn to a potential national tournament bid. Having finished the season 21-9 with wins over Westmont, Vanguard and HIU Menlo has put together a strong resume. All there is left to do is wait for seeding to be announced and gear up for more postseason hoops!
