Atherton, CA- It was a big day for Menlo Women's Tennis. The Oaks secured the first win in program history in dominant fashion against the visiting Hope International Royals. From the doubles through the singles matches the Oaks were in control for almost the entirety of the match. It was a great bounce back effort after falling to Westcliff just one day earlier.
Doubles Domination
The match started with three doubles matches. These would be matches that Menlo would win in a convincing manner. The pairs of Franziska Niederle/Anthea Weiland & Lea Mocher/Andrea Vlasceanu won their matches via a score of 6-2. Valentina Urelli Rinaldi and Milana Hrudka were also playing well but would not need to finish their match with the Oaks securing two of three doubles sets.
Three Singles Victories
Having won the doubles portion of the competition Menlo only needed to win three of six singles matches. They would win said matches in relatively quick fashion with three victories. Franziska Niederle and Anthea Weiland found success not just as a pair but as individuals as well. Niederle won her match thanks to winning each of her sets 6-2. Weiland won her first set 6-1 before a closer set in which she pulled out the win 6-4. Lastly, Andrea Vlasceanu also won both of her sets 6-2 officially securing the Oaks win on the day.
Up Next…
Leaa Mocher & Valentina Urelli Rinaldi also won their first sets but thanks to their teammates success did not need to finish out the rest of their matches. The Oaks officially won the match with a score of 4-0. The women will be on the road for their next contest as they visit Holy Names on Friday, February 24th as they look to add another win to their resume.
