MENLO FALLS IN SEASON FINALE 67-75

Santa Clarita, CA- It was not the outcome Menlo basketball fans were hoping for in the season finale of the men's basketball season. Menlo refused to go away the entire game as they trailed 37-42 at the half and remained close throughout the second half as well. Despite the loss, the Oaks still produced some positive results especially their three point shooting and bench scoring. For the game the Oaks knocked down 40% of their threes and saw the second unit contribute 37 points.

Riles Neff Rises to the Occasion

Sophomore Riles Neff got an opportunity to help lead the Oaks off the bench. In 23 minutes of playing time he did not disappoint. Neff not only scored 10 points but also grabbed three rebounds and shot four of six from the field. Not to mention he knocked down two three pointers as well. Neff should look to carry this solid momentum into future seasons.

Another Strong Outing from Le'aupepe

In what may be the last time Corey Le'aupepe suits up for the Oaks the senior put forth another strong performance. Le'aupepe added a team high 19 points to his career total on an efficient 60% shooting from the field. While he didn't have his usual impact on the boards, Le'aupepe found other ways to contribute. He defended the rim with two blocks and even handed out a game high four assists.

Up Next…

For the season the Oaks finished with a 7-11 conference record and unfortunately will not qualify for the GSAC playoffs. But, there are still positives to be had when looking at the year as a whole. Their overall record is a solid 16-12 and were competitive with some of the top teams in both the GSAC and NAIA as a whole. On top of this some young players flashed plenty of potential, hinting at their ability to take on larger roles in future seasons. For those looking forward to more Oaks hoops the women's team will begin their playoff run inside Haynes-Prim Pavilion next week!
