Atherton, California- Menlo Women's Basketball enjoyed a great Saturday for the program both on and off the court. The Oaks honored four graduating seniors before tip-off and proceeded to defeat visiting Arizona Christian 82-73. This was the final, regular season home game for the Oaks and the fourth consecutive win for coach Spataro's squad.
Thank You Seniors
Prior to tip-off seniors Vivian Woo, Hunter Boske, Aliyah Arcillas & Victoria Iafeta were acknowledged at center court by the Menlo community for their dedication on and off the court. All four would start and help the Oaks score five quick points. These veteran players will likely be called upon to play an important role with the post-season quickly approaching.
Vivian Woo's Hot Start
As one of the players honored during the pre-game festivities, it was only fitting that Vivian Woo was locked in when it came to game time. Woo had the hot hand through most of the second half but her first quarter set the tone for the entire Menlo team. The senior guard would hit four of her first six shot attempts enroute to a 10 point first quarter. By the time halftime rolled around Woo had scored 14 points, knocked down two threes and shot 67% from the floor.
Another Day at the Office for Kiara Brown
It seems like every contest Kiara Brown continues to build upon her already impressive resume. The junior forward scored a game high 19 points but has continued to expand her impact across the box score. On top of her scoring prowess, Brown could not be kept off the glass as she pulled down 15 rebounds. She was also the top playmaker for the Oaks with six assists and came away with three steals.
Up Next…
Thankfully for Menlo hoops fans, this will not be the last time the Oaks play inside Haynes-Prim Pavilion. The GSAC conference tournament is to be hosted on Menlo's campus! Next week the Oaks hit the road to take on #5 Westmont and The Master's University in Southern California. Westmont should present a unique challenge as the Oaks are responsible for one of the Warriors two losses this season. It should make for a competitive and intense rematch!
