Final GSAC Regular Season Match for Women’s Volleyball Falls in Favor of the Mustangs

SANTA CLARITA, CA – Women's Volleyball completed the 2023 regular season at The Master's University on Saturday afternoon. The Mustangs showed up to play hard and ended the match in three sets. The rallies were non-stop throughout the sets with high dig numbers from both sides of the court. However, The Master's always found a way to finish off the points. Menlo ended regular season play with an overall record of 17-8 and 9-5 in GSAC. The Oaks have clinched the #2 seed in the GSAC Conference Championships taking place in San DImas, CA at Life Pacific November 2-4.

Oaks Unable to Find Their Mojo

The first set was a side-out battle between the Oaks and the Mustangs. The set remained tied up until 22-22 where The Master's were able to push ahead and take it 25-23. The second set was a combination of good blocking and good hitting from the Mustangs. Menlo was able to squeeze in a block assist from Katharine Mumm and Hannah Torres as well as a Paige Harmann dump to creep the score up to 13-24 before the Mustangs were able to finish the set off. Menlo was able to keep themselves close in the third set thanks to Ayanna Barham who added 3 of the Oaks 9 total kills in the set. In the end, the Oaks fell to the Mustangs, 21-25. There is a lot to take away from today's match for Menlo going into the Conference Championship Tournament and will use today as a growing experience!

Amey Rainaud-Hinds in NAIA Leaderboards Top 5

Even though the match did not fall in favor of Menlo, there were still some great moments on their side of the court. Gabriella MacKenzie and Hannah Torres each totaled 6 kills to lead the attack. They also both added two block assists each. Beatrice Manzon aided the offense with 11 assists and 5 digs. Libero Amey Rainaud-Hinds was the star of the show today adding 20 digs and 5 assists for Menlo. Rainaud is now #4 in the NAIA with 6.26 digs per set and #5 with 595 total digs. She has been in the leaderboards of the NAIA the entire 2023 season and the numbers show just what an amazing utility she has become to this team. One week of preparation will allow the Oaks to reset and get ready for postseason play!
