Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Drew Barton

Menlo Women’s Soccer Celebrates Senior Day with 3-0 Victory Over Life Pacific

Atherton, CA- Menlo Women's Soccer put together their most dominant effort of the season in a 3-0 victory over the visiting Life Pacific Warriors. On top of picking up a much needed win, the Oaks celebrated five graduating seniors. There is no better way to spend one of their final games on Wunderlich Field than as part of a convincing win!

Seniors Shine On Their Big Day

Menlo would honor a group of five seniors who have dedicated years of their young lives to Menlo soccer. Brynn McClymond, Emily Linares, Madeline Costa, Paula Honde and Dania Ben Shabat have all left their own unique impact on this team. Today, it would be Brynn McClymond who would get things going for the Oaks scoring the teams first goal just two minutes into the game. McClymond was able to get a great shot off thanks to a well placed corner kick by Ruby Doerr. On the defensive side of the field, Madeline Costa earned the start in goal for the Oaks for her twelfth career start. While she did not record a save in her 45 minutes of action that is a testament to Menlo's defense who did not allow a shot on goal across the entire match. Lastly, fellow senior Dania Ben Shabat played a strong 68 minutes which included two shots on goal while keeping the Oaks on the attack.

Offense Fires on all Cylinders

McClymonds' goal would be the first of the day but far from the last. Late in the first half Ophelia Jones would add to Menlo's score with a perfect header thanks to an assist by Lyla Devereaux. This would be Jones first goal of the season and Deveraux's first assist of the year as well. For their final score of the match Haley Dunham added on to her goal total with her team leading fifth of year. Joselyn Hom would assist on Dunham's goal for her first assist of the year as well.

Up Next…

Having scored their most goals in a single game this season the Oaks should be feeling fired up with an upcoming road trip against both Vanguard and Hope International. With three games left in conference play coach Freddy Delgado has to like the momentum the Oaks have created from themselves with today's decisive win!
