Sebastian Lopez Zavala has been named the Men’s Soccer Graduate Assistant Coach for the 2025 season at Menlo College. While pursuing his Master’s degree in Sport and Performance Psychology, Sebastian will transition from standout student-athlete to the sidelines, continuing to contribute to the program that he helped elevate over the past two years.

A native of Pescadero, California, Sebastian transferred to Menlo from Cabrillo College, bringing grit, energy, and a high soccer IQ to the Oaks. During his two seasons in Atherton, he became a key contributor, making 27 appearances, including 15 starts, scoring one goal, and adding three assists. Yet his impact extends far beyond stats.

Sebastian etched his name in Menlo Men’s Soccer history during the 2023 NAIA Championship Tournament, delivering the game-winning goal in the opening-round victory over College of Idaho—the first national tournament win in program history. It was a defining moment for the team and a legacy-sealing performance for Sebastian.

Set to graduate in the spring with a Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Sebastian is praised by the coaching staff not just for his technical quality, but for his relentless work ethic and commitment to team success.

“Sebastian’s quality up front over the past two years has helped us win a lot of games. He is a hardworking, honest player who has contributed so much to our success—not only on the score sheet, but with his defending in wide areas. His service from wide areas and set pieces will be tough to replace.”

As he steps into his new coaching role, Sebastian brings with him the same passion, leadership, and dedication that made him a standout on the field—qualities that will no doubt continue to benefit the Oaks in this next chapter.
