Richard Kiel began as the inaugural Menlo NCBA Baseball Head Coach in May 2025.
The program’s first season saw the Oaks go 11-11 overall highlighted by series sweeps of Saint Mary’s and San Francisco as well as a 16-15 upset of No. 1 Santa Clara in extra innings. The Oaks collected three NCBA Pacific North Region Conference weekly honors, had Ashley Geary-Smith receive the Non-NCAA Sports Performance Iron Oak Award as well as the Oak Male Leadership Award, and capped the year with Joseph Salmeron earning NCBA Pacific All-Region Second Team.
Over the course of his five-year career as a pitcher for Menlo Baseball, Kiel logged 128 strikeouts (fourth in program history) across 170.0 innings pitched (seventh in program history), closing out his career by leading the team in strikeouts (53), innings pitched (81.0), and five complete games in his senior season.
Previously a Resident Assistant, Undergraduate Hall Director, and Assistant Secretary to the President at Menlo College, Kiel has served as Assistant Director of Housing Operations since 2023 now in addition to his coaching role.
