McKinsey Thorpe was named Head Coach of Menlo College Softball in July 2025, marking an exciting new chapter for the Oaks' NCAA Division II program. A Bay Area native with a decorated background as both a player and coach, Thorpe brings with her a championship pedigree, a deep passion for player development, and a transformational leadership style grounded in culture, accountability, and belief.
Thorpe's softball journey is marked by success at every level. She starred at Archbishop Mitty High School, where she helped lead the Monarchs to four consecutive WCAL titles and three CIF championships, earning First Team honors across WCAL, CIF, and Mercury News, while being named Team MVP.
She went on to play collegiately at Concordia University Irvine, where she was a five-year standout (2017–2021) and became the program’s first-ever PacWest Player of the Year in 2021. Thorpe also earned NFCA and D2CCA First Team All-Region honors, led the Eagles in batting average, hits, and stolen bases, and helped the team to multiple PacWest championships. A five-time Academic All-PacWest honoree, she was named the 2022 PacWest Softball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and still ranks among CUI’s all-time leaders in games played, steals, and walks.
Following her playing career, Thorpe transitioned into coaching, serving as a graduate assistant at her alma mater. There, she played a vital role in one of the most successful seasons in CUI history, contributing to a 36-0 start in 2022—the sixth-longest undefeated streak in NCAA Division II history—and a trip to the West Regional Final. Her responsibilities included academic advising, strength and conditioning, recruiting, and player development across both infield and outfield units.
Most recently, Thorpe made her mark at San Francisco State, where she was instrumental in turning the Gators into a conference contender. Through her leadership in skill development, recruiting, academic support, and team culture, SFSU completed a remarkable turnaround and clinched its first CCAA Conference Championship in over a decade in 2023.
Thorpe holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (Sports Management emphasis) and a Master’s in Coaching and Athletic Administration, both from Concordia University Irvine.
With her championship foundation, Northern California roots, and a clear vision for sustained excellence, McKinsey Thorpe is poised to lead Menlo Softball into a new era of competitive success and cultural strength.
