Mariano Sanchez enters his second season as Assistant Men’s Wrestling Coach of his alma mater in 2013. A native of Orange Cove, Calif., Sanchez was a two-time All-American and team captain for the Oaks in 2005 and 2007 and was also tabbed as the team’s MVP and Outstanding Wrestler in each of his two seasons for the Blue and White. Prior to wrestling for Menlo, Sanchez was a state champion for Fresno City College during the 2003-04 campaign. Sanchez’s extensive coaching experience includes a five-year stint as head wrestling coach at Orange Cove High School where he took home two East Sierra League titles (2007 and 2009) while also developing two state qualifiers. In addition to his duties at Menlo, Sanchez is currently in his second season as club director for Pride Rock Wrestling Club in Redwood City, Calif.

Sanchez currently resides in Fremont, Calif., and looks forward to spending another year grooming the talented wrestlers at Menlo College.
