Aggie Invitational Results | Singles & Doubles Draws

DAVIS, Calif. – In addition to season-opening competition in the Fresno Pacific Hidden Dual, Menlo Men's Tennis had a solid showing at UC Davis' Aggie Invitational, logging a total of seven victories over NCAA Division I opponents across two days of play out at Marya Welch Tennis Center on Friday and Saturday.

Four Oaks Claim Wins In Singles Action
Highlighting the Blue and White Singles Draws respectively, sophomore Eemil Pasanen pushed past Nevada's Nicolas Recoura 6-2, 6-4 and senior Robin McAlpine also defeated his first opponent from Nevada, Ibrahim Snoussi, 7-6 (8-6), 6-4. McAlpine was then challenged by UC Davis' Ivan Savkin and ended up falling 6-4, 6-3 while Pasanen battled Bastien Maxant of Saint Mary's into a third set 5-7, 6-4, 6-0 despite an early advantage.

Sophomore Zalan Savay ended up walking away with two victories in the consolation draw, topping Devin Stuppin of Saint Mary's 6-4, 6-2 as well as Sacramento State's Adryan Ballestero 6-4, 6-4. Meanwhile, sophomore David Espinosa Navarro showed tremendous fight throughout his singles matchups, dropping a 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) result to Ballestero before bouncing back with a grueling 6-4, 6-7 (3-7), 10-3 triumph.

Multiple Doubles Pairs Take Down DI Opponents
In the White Doubles Draw, Menlo had senior Henry Riccioni-Brown combine with freshman Iwan Attye for an 8-5 victory over Joseph Lyon and Sam Simmonds of Saint Mary's prior to sustaining an 8-6 semifinal defeat at the hands of Sacramento State's Yoav Levy and Sebastian Vlahos. Though McAlpine and Espinosa Navarro dropped a result to a pair from Pacific, they would dramatically finish on a winning note, bettering Alexander Simone and Jacopo Antonelli from Sacramento State 8-7 with a 7-3 tiebreaker.
