LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Two Menlo student-athletes competed at the 2026 US Taekwondo Season Final from September 11 through 13, with both taking home medals.
Sophomore Shayler Guymon, a Las Vegas native, took home his second gold of his Menlo career and first of his sophomore season. Guymon defeated Minnesota's John O'Neill in his opening spar before taking down Texas' Ray Huerta in the -68kg Senior Male division. As a freshman, he took home gold at the California State Championship while also finishing with a bronze twice, at the NCTA Team Trials and Berkeley Fall Open.
Joining Guymon was Sam Aloubeady who added on to an already strong career as an Oak. Aloubeady was one of two Oaks to place on the podium at the 2026 Nationals. He opened his day with a victory over Alaska's Simeon Keller to reach the final of the -63kg Senior Male division. The sophomore from Dubai, UAE competed for the Oaks as a freshman but did not finish on the podium. He opened his sophomore season with a silver medal at the Season Final.
In each of the two seasons of Menlo Taekwondo, the Oaks have had two student-athletes finish on the podium. Aloubeady and Guymon continued Menlo's string of strong performances at the US Season Final from last season, when Christina Chavez took home gold in the Female Bantamweight division and Jalsyn Yu-Hian finished with the bronze in the Female Flyweight division.
The Oaks now return home for the Bay Area Open, taking place Saturday, September 19 in San Jose.
