ATHERTON, CA – Menlo NCBA Baseball put the first runs of the series on the board Friday, but No. 7 Stanford used a five-run second inning to eventually claim Friday's 10-5 victory despite further comeback attempts down the stretch at Cartan Field.

Initial Oaks Advantage Gives Way To Cardinal Rallies
Batting first as the visiting team, Menlo quickly jumped in front of Stanford 3-0 with a two-run double by freshman Cayden Miramontes, one of his two hits on the day, highlighting the early surge. The Cardinal were aided by an error as they came back to move ahead 5-3 in the second then another came in on a double in the third.

Junior Aidan Mitchell, who was busy as the Oaks' starting pitcher in the contest, provided a key sacrifice fly in the fifth inning as Menlo pulled to within one at 6-5, scoring junior Joseph Salmeron after one of his two hits in the game. However, Stanford managed to hold onto its lead the rest of the way toward the 10-5 final.
