Box Score
ATHERTON, CA – Though weather delayed the start of Friday's Senior Day matchup with Stanton, Menlo Women's Tennis was still able to honor the careers of seniors
Yousra Hidass and
Carlotta Stern as well as Graduate Assistant Coach
Franziska Niederle out at Cartan Tennis Courts ahead of a tough 4-2 win for the Elks that could not be fully completed due to the rain's return.
Oaks' Initial Advantage Does Not Hold
Playing out all three doubles matches regardless of result, the Oaks triumphed in all three as juniors
Nia Macay and
Polya Nikolova opened by besting Emilse Ruiz and Emili Maljawskij 6-3 on Court 3, the first-time tandem freshman
Gloria Jovic and junior
Zofia Dziewiecka put away Waraporn Muangpho and Polina Burenina 7-5 on Court 2, then Hidass and junior
Livia Harper matched that 7-5 score in their victory versus Paula Rodriguez and Cheyenne Houkes on Court 1.
Menlo's lead became 2-0 when freshman
Tumi Kgosiemang made quick work of Muangpho 6-0, 6-1 on Court 5, but Elk victories on the last four singles courts to finish shifted the match's momentum. Jovic and Rodriguez were not able to finish their three-set battle on Court 2 due to more rainfall, but it was not before Stanton could clinch the win.
